Hi Ronna,
If I would have known that I would still have the slightest chance of
getting stones without a gallbladder, I would have never gone through with
the surgery. I had my gallbladder out three years ago, and still suffer from
the same sort of attacks. I was recently hospitalized, and there were,
indeed stones in my liver. I am going for an ercp next week to have them
removed. No one tells you that there can be a chance of this happening,
because I think doctors feel the same way–that it’s just easier to do the
surgery. I think most people have success and relief after they have their
gallbladders out–but there’s always that ‘chance.’ My mom had her gb out
when she was 20, and never had a problem since. For me, it’s been another
story–I was 28 and have had ongoing troubles from day one. And I’ve found
that once the problems start and the attacks mount, it just doesn’t matter
anymore whether I eat or not….when a stone moves, it moves!

Thanks Noella (and to Leah as well) for the advise. Today I bought some
epsom salts - so even though I haven’t started the whole process of
flushing - I’m one small step closer! I don’t mean to be a heretic, but
the idea of surgery seems simpler in some ways compared to the (seemingly
complex) routine of flushing and vitamin supplements, and all the other
things that members of this group have discovered. I actually find the
later more overwhelming than the former. What makes me pause is reading
that some folks have their gb out and still feel that they have liver
stones. I’m feeling quite unsure of what I want to do. In any case, it
will be a while before I have an appt. for a surgical consult, and I figure
I’ll at least give the flushing a try. Meanwhile, I’m nervous about
eating much else besides applesauce!

I really wish that I knew! I got to see a nice, glossy photo of one of
them….but that’s about it. They didn’t tell me what kind of a stone it
was.
