I have heard conflicting information. Are stones formed in the liver
or gallbladder or both? Is it the same for pigment gallstones?

    It certainly can be appreciated, this confusion, as there certainly are conflicting considerations as to just where they start. I’m now of the thought the liver is this starting point for most stones but it doesn’t mean stones can’t form in the gallbladder too. Note the picture on Dusan’s website regarding a liver with a stone in it that looks much the same as stones in the gallbladder.

    Diets which are high in trigycerides and other hydrogenated fat cause the liver to make a greater amount of LDL cholesterol than what our bodies are designed to have. So, when there is too much being made into a bile, without the benifit of a quick removal from our systems by means of the intestines and a diet high in fiber, there can be a precipitation of the cholesterol from the bile salt much the same as there can be a precipitation of fat at the outside edges of dishwater that has been over burdened with fats. This is why it is so important to have a diet that not only contains EFAs, good fat the liver and body’s cells need, but a is also high in fibered products of the soluable and insoluble type.

    I have thought twice that all my stones had been passed, so they are either reluctant to come out or I am making more new ones. Arrrggghhh!! Anyway as I have no gb, these must be hiding in the liver or being made in the liver logically. Anyway, now for something completely different…

    I wondered if you can help me. I am just about to start taking Soya Lecithin granules,what dose would you recommend for a start off? I also need to take something else instead of the Flax ,as I can’t tolerate Flax at all. I understand that Lecithin is the emulsifier, so it helps you to process the fats, what does the Flax do exactly, if I know its job, then perhaps I can find an alternative that does the same job.

    Also, a friend of mine went to France recently and says that they use globe artichoke extract (Cynarin) for gb and liver complaints. Have you heard of this before?

    Lecithin like flaxseed oil provides the body with necessary fats for the liver’s production of HDL cholesterol, for cellular strength, and the liver’s filtering action. If you’re going to be using the granules just use what feels good for you. Starting with a couple of spoons full a day is fine. The important thing is that you’re at least getting some form of omega 3 acid.

    Artichoke extract is considered as a very good tonic for the gallbladder and liver.

    Hi Jane… Ditto Dale again… right on track!
    Flax seed oil contains the essential fatty acids necssary for many
    functions of the body including the breaking down of brown fats
    (stored fats). The two main reasons for taking it are: 1) It helps
    the liver function properly in its processing of cholestorol; 2) It
    makes the gb erupt, especially if taken on an empty stomach.
    Alternatives to flaxseed oil include: 1) Freshly ground flax seeds
    put through a coffe grinder each morning in a little oj; 2) Fish
    oils… go get some good old cod liver oil! Fish oild may be better
    than flaxseed oil… as they also contain Omega 6’s. The problem is
    the slight after taste or smell…
    Granulated Lecithin is vital to smoothing out the bile… 1-2
    heaping tablesppons each day is fine… I put mine in a little oj
    with the flaxseed oil.
    Bile slats and drinking lots of water are also very important to

    solving gb/liver cholestorol chunk problems. Bile is comprised of 4
    main things… Cholestorol, Lecithin, Water and Bile Salts. It only
    makes sense that to stop cholestorol from clumping one would decrease
    cholestorol intake and increase the water, lecithin and bile salts!
