Hi list,
After a good fight and valliant attempt to avoid the surgery I had my
gallbladder removed last Monday 9:30 to 10:45am. All went well and I
went home 24 hours later feeling pretty good considering. I took the
pain medication off and on for a couple of days. The surgeon video
taped the procedure. And I specifically requested that he cut the
gallbladder open to reveal the stones on tape. I also asked that he
push on them in the dish so I could get some sense of their
consistency and level of hardness. He told my wife that the
gallbladder was very inflamed and swollen and the stones were all
black in color indicating that they consisted of bile which had built
them up over a long period of time. I have an appointment on
Wednesday for him to go over the tape and explain things to me at
that time. I’ll let you all know what the tape looks like. I have
been continuing my good diet but have also tasted some things that I
have not tasted since July of this year, namely, cheese, sausage, and
eggs. Everything seems to be running smoothly so far. I’m just
releived it is all overwith, as I feel that the stones I had were
really unpassable. I’ll have more comments after Wednesday. Thanks
for the continuing support. Jerome

lasting relief from daily tightness and jabbing pains in the area of
the gallbladder. I had experienced previous relief with GCG, flaxoil
and liver friendly juice tonics and diet. But through November the
discomfort and my nagging fear of a serious attack was a constant
concern. One weekend my wife and I spent a weekend in the big city to
celebrate an occasion. I had a nice steak, some rich food and ‘bam’ I
was doubled over in pain for a day. I couldn’t see going on
indefinitly in constant worry over every little thing I ate as I
don’t feel that I have a bad diet to begin with. I contacted my
doctor to schedule another ultra sound to see if there had been any
improvement in 4 months and as many flushes. The photos showed no
change and a gallbladder still full of stones. Every time I took a
step I could feel a twinge of pain under my rib. No jogging needed.
My decision to have the opeation in December was somewhat one of
convenience as I had 2 weeks off work at the end of December. We have
family ski trips planned this winter and a week Carribean cruide for
my wife and I to celebrate 20 years of marriage in the spring. It
just seemed best to get it done as things had not improved for me. I
do believe that the flushes are effective for the cholesterol type
stones and encourage those considering trying a flush , to do so. It
is certainly worth a try to avoid the permanent solution of surgery.

To Jerome…
I am sorry to hear that you are having to go to surgery, but it
sounds like the right thing for your stmptoms. Anyone who has tried
3+ flushes and tried a change in eating habits, should find
significant results. If you continue to experience significant
symptoms and have an ultra sound showing many stones… it is
probably time to have the gb out.
I believe that the flush is quite effective for cholestorol stones
(85-90% of stones), but calcium stones cannot be softened with apple
juice. Heavy bile salts or uric acid, Coin Grass, etc, may slowly
eat away the calcified stones, but a simple flush wont do it.
When you look at amny of the big greenies that come our in the flush,
you can often see that they are elongated and tublular, indicating
that they were pushed through the ducts. Calcified stones will not
squish and get through the ducts, so they need to be small to exit.
Good luck and keep us posted. It sounds like you are taking a
realistic approach to your health… but should you be eating those
big steaks and rich food anyway?!?! I guess once a month won’t kill
us!

Where was this site that you saw pictures? I’d love to see it. I tried to
get my Doctor to tape my gallbladder removal, but he said the Hospital didn;t
do it there.
