Confused about the cleanse

June 1st, 2003 · 1 Comment

I am a “newbie” to this group and have reviewed 20+ messages
concerning
the liver/gallbladder flush. I do have a point of confusion and
would appreciate anyone to affirm or correct the following:
1) I should do a bowel cleanse first - what do you all recommend and
for how long?
2) The Liver/gallbalder cleanse takes 5 days - is a cleanse and a
flush the same or is the flush something you do only for one day?
3) I should prepare my gallbladder for the cleanse by drinking apple
juice for 5 days before actually doing the cleanse/flush - is this
also the bowel cleanse? What else do you eat for those 5 days of
drinking apple juice? Help!
4) Where does Epson salts come into all of this? I didn’t think
Epson Salts was for internal use - I always used it for a foot soak.
I do appreciate everyones help in this matter. I am a member of the

hypo club for hypoglycemics and we discuss a lot about the cleansing
of the liver, but only this week has anyone mentioned the
gallbladder. I had an attack several years ago and they wanted to do
surgery but I convinced them to wait….since then, when I get that
awful gnawing feeling under my breast bone or between my shoulder
blades, I take 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of virgin
olive oil before going to bed, then lay on my right side for about
1/2 hour….I do this several nights in a row until the discomfort
passes….I also am careful not to eat foods high in saturated fats
or too much roughage like popcorn and nuts….I can eat those things
in moderation most of the time but not when I’m in distress. Also, I
have been using a liver cleanse from the healthfood store - brand
name ZAND which has helped whenever I feel pain under my left
shoulder blade and start getting headaches….this seems to keep the
frequency of headaches down….I’m sure it is because my liver is
over whelmed and needs to be detoxified….
Again, thanks for any help you all can give.

-I just finished reading The Liver Cleansing Diet by Dr. Sandra
Cabot, M.D. You can get at amazon.com or Barnes and Noble. She really
explains a lot about liver health and how to modify your diet to be
more liver friendly. I am going to go on the diet to hopefully
improve liver functions and avoid gallbladder surgery. I am also
going to start taking Gold Coin Grass titcture which is supposed to
have a softening effect on stones before my next flush. Four days ago
after eating a chicken sandwich with lots of mayonaise at a fast food
restaurant I had an attack that was unreal. I was in terrible pain
for about 4 hours. I am so afraid of repeating this episode that I am
very careful of what I eat. I think the Liver Cleansing Diet will be
    my salvation.
When you buy the epsom salts read the label and make sure it says
that it can be taken internally.
